About Mount Olympus
Named after the Greek mythological mountain. The true summit of Chionistra (1,952 m) lies inside the fenced RAF Troodos radar station — and, as Eric Gilbertson notes, that ground is understood to belong to the UK Sovereign Base Areas rather than to the Republic of Cyprus. On that reading the highest point of Cyprus proper is the highest ground just outside the perimeter fence (~1,951 m), which is what Ticklelist counts as the legal high point. The surrounding Troodos trails are excellent.
